Cola Spin Salsa Dance Move

Here is a quick salsa dance move for those who have been waiting for some new salsa dance videos from us and are excited for National Dance Day 2012, but haven't gotten Pocket Salsa yet. We call it the 'Cola Spin' salsa move which comes out of basically a 'coca-cola' like move, with some tai-chi/chuck-norris action into a free spin. Enjoy!...

So You Think You Can Dance : Cristina Santana in the TOP 10!

Cristina Santana, from our near by neighbors in the Los Angeles salsa dance scene, has made it all the way to being in the Top 5 ladies on the TV Show "So You Think You Can Dance" Season 7! We are very excited and proud of Cristina as she had tried out last year and had gone all the way to the Las Vegas try outs on So You Think You Can Dance Season 6, but did not make it. We will be happy to throw our support to Cristina as she is a California favorite to dance with. If you have not seen Cristina dance with Pepe, here are some great videos. If you want more information on So You Think You Can Dance, you can visit http://fox.com/dance or more information about Pepe & Cristina's salsa dance teams, check out their website: http://dancemasterpuppet.com/...

Roof-Top Dancing in America : West Side Story

Roof-Top Dancing in America : West Side Story

This weekend I took some time to revisit the great musical called "West Side Story". For those who have not seen the play or movie, its plot is very similar to "Romeo and Juliet" except placed in the era of the mid-1950s during which time there was a period of migration from Puerto Rico to New York. The two lovers in the film are not only separated by race, but also by the gang violence between two feuding groups: The Sharks and The Jets.Given the popular social discussion of foreigners and immigration nowadays, I find this particular musical performance interesting as it highlights the fact that history always repeats itself and is often expressed through great art forms! For those who watch "So You Think You Can Dance", you will notice that this was the choreography used in the audition process during what is called "Vegas Week"....

"So You Think You Can Dance" Picks of the Week

I have received several emails from fans letting me know that while they may not have time to watch "So You Think You Can Dance", they catch up by watching my favorite picks. While I have been doing this on our addicted2salsa Fan Page on Facebook, I decided to be more proactive and post it here as well....

Just when you think you've seen every dance style...

I finally took time to look into this new form of dancing called: "JumpStyle", which in its simplest form is a mixture of ska-jumping, river dancing and techno. From watching SYTYCD, I learned about Gold Inferno - the mask wearing wrestler wannabe who loves to jump. He is the (supposedly) American Jumpstyle Dance Champion. I could not find out through my research how many people competed for that beloved title. However, for those extremely excited to integrate Jumpstyle dancing into their salsa footwork or those looking for a few smiles today, Mr. Gold Inferno has a set of super tutorial videos that will have you jumping for joy....

Sumbit your entries - you still have time! [Updatedx1]

We have been getting a lot of questions about our first video dance contest. You have until May 19th, 2008 11:59pm (PACIFIC STANDARD TIME) to submit your video. (Due to time-zones, international contestants have more time to submit). Please remember to keep your video between 20-45 seconds less than 30 seconds in length (a few seconds over is ok - we do not want to hinder creativity, but please no 2+ minute videos for example). Voting will start on May 20th, 2008 (PST). Good Luck!...
